Acupuncture: Painless and Powerful!

The Treatment:

We begin by taking a complete history, focusing on your primary health complaint. After arriving at a working diagnosis and treatment plan, the needles are inserted.  Then you relax for 15 to 20 minutes.  Other techniques such as tuina (Chinese massage), moxabustion and cupping are often used during the treatment as well.  The

What is Painless Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a millennia old, holistic approach to medicine focusing on the whole person, not just the symptom or the disease. It is used by millions of people worldwide for a wide range of conditions.

Painless acupuncture is a treatment style that I have studied and developed after seeing patients respond much better when they are comfortable and aren’t anxious about the pain.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture helps the body’s energy, or qi, correct itself, bringing us back into balance.  Qi, (also written chi  and pronounced chee), is often translated as “life essence” or “vitality”.  This qi flows throughout the body like a river, and, like a river, can dry up, get blocked, or veer off course.  These changes are experienced as discomfort and disease. Through the painless use of needles and other gentle techniques, our qi is strengthened, helped to move smoothly and its direction of flow corrected to alleviate symptoms and promote health and well-being.

Who can be helped by Acupuncture?

Anyone from 1 week to 120 years old! Based on age and condition a variety of techniques are chosen to ensure the patient’s comfort and quick healing.  Children and sensitive patients are treated without the use of needles.

But I HATE needles!

The hair-thin needles used are much smaller than what we usually think of as “needles” and are painless.  Very few are used during each treatment.  Still not sure?  There are other options for treatment without needles.

Is it safe?

Perfectly.  The sterile needles, are used once and then disposed of immediately. Additionally since the treatments are tailored to the individual, side-effects are virtually nonexistent.

How soon can I expect results?

Response to treatment varies greatly with the condition of the patient. By the third treatment, most, if not all, patients feel a significant improvement.

How long does a treatment take?

The initial consultation and treatment is scheduled for 1 1/2 hours.  Following treatments last between 1 hour and 1 hour and 15 minutes.

How much does it cost?

While insurance will usually cover treatment in personal injury and worker’s compensation cases, other cases usually require the patient to cover part of the cost of treatment.  In such situations, the price for a treatment may be negotiable based on the patient’s ability to pay.
